Sierra Leone imposed covid-19 protection measures on the country at an early stage and has so far been spared a large-scale epidemic. But this is on the horizon. The virus has now spread to almost all African countries.
Hygienic aids urgently needed
Especially in poverty-stricken areas, such as the Kailahun district in the east of the country people are at risk. There is a lack of clean water, and hygiene items for the population and protective suits for clinic staff. Our local partner is asking for fast help. World Emergency Relief will provide soap and wash buckets and ship a container of hygiene items, protective suits and bleach that was already used during the Ebola epidemic. Without proactive action, the covid-19 virus in Africa could lead to a humanitarian disaster.
