Kristy Scott

Kristy Scott is Chief Executive Officer at World Emergency Relief. We would like to introduce Kristy to you.

FROM WHICH MOMENT IN YOUR LIFE DID YOU KNEW: THIS JOB IS MY DESTINY?

When I was on my very first trip for years ago, Peru opened my eyes.
Peru showed me that we consider everything in life as self-evident. Water, electricity, nutrition. Peru changed my view on everything in life. Because what's very, very little for us, is all the most vulnerable people have. That twist in my life, makes me work hard for vulnerable kids from all over the world.

WHAT IS YOUR ROLE AT World Emergency Relief?

Meanwhile, I am the CEO of the foundation.
I have been involved for more than 30 years for example, as operational and program manager.

YOU WERE IN CONGO FOR NEW PROJECTS. WHICH MEMORY WILL ALWAYS BE STUCKED IN YOUR HEART?

While I was looking for new projects to organize or finance, I have seen a lot.
Too much actually, so I would like to offer more help on behalf of WER than we do now.
I have an example of what would always be stuck in my heart. Attending surgeries was very special. With the funding of medical aid for doctors, we contributed to the surgery of 80 people in 7 days. All thanks to our donors. I will never forget the impact we have on so many people. By attending this, the need to mean even more to these people increases. To gaze at all the patients in line (I'm not able to help them medically, except for financial support thanks to our donors), begging for a consultation, is heartbreaking.

WHEN IS YOUR JOB DONE? WHEN DO YOU FEEL SATISFIED?

This is my life.
I will probably never retire. Problems in the world would always keep on being, happening… there are natural disasters that cause a lot of people, which all needs to be helped due to the lack of food, water or shelter. I feel a tremendous urge to always be there for people who are less fortunate. And that one little, vulnerable, needy kid, which makes my work feels like an extended motherhood, makes me to give and do everything in my nature. I will never forget the impact we have had on so many people.

WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE TO SAY TO DONORS?

Besides being very grateful for your support, I am so proud of it.
Just like me, you care about the impact that your support brings. For us, $10 means quite a little. For people who have to live for $10 a month, it means a lot. And it means even more that you care. Thank you for being there for them.
