WER responds to Katrina's devastation left by Hurricane Katrina

Breaking News - Katrina News (9/1/2005)

Wednesday 12 Noon

WER finally got FEMA’s approval to go into the hardest hit areas and refugee sites with necessary supplies mid-day Tuesday afternoon. Our four truckloads of bottled water, blankets, food, juice, latex gloves, hygiene and cleaning supplies reached four key Gulf Coast locations serving displaced families. WER’s outreach is being felt from Tupelo, MS to Baton Rouge, LA and as far east as Mobile, AL, with more aid on the way.

We have ten trucks of bottled water staged and ready to send upon FEMA approval.

WER is not accepting donations of used clothing or other household goods.

Our founder, Joel MacCollam, flies to Houston on Thursday to personally encourage local aid workers and Superdome refuges being resettled in Houston’s vacant Astrodome.

WER is devoted to the families who have lost their homes and will help ensure they have enough water and food to get them through the tough weeks ahead.
