Helping Our Own WER responds to the devastation left by Hurricane Charley |

World Emergency Relief in partnership with other non-profits has responded to the crisis left by Hurricane Charley by sending water and other goods to help Floridians that have been devastated by the storm. WER has worked for many years to help people affected by natural disasters abroad and here at home. | raising funds to ship food, blankets, cleaning supplies and other necessities to Florida as needed. How many truck loads of goods we ship depends on our donors and the amount of money being raised to help the disaster victims. Hurricane Charley is being called the 2nd strongest storm to hit Florida in over a decade. The Florida Division of Emergency Management is estimating the damage left by the storm to be about $15 billion. Before

moving out to sea over the east coast, the hurricane cut through central Florida, with winds up to 145 mph. The storm shredded many mobile home parks and damaged tens of thousands of buildings in the area around Punta Gorda and Port Charlotte. Not only did it cause structural damage, but it ripped up many of Florida's orange groves causing significant financial losses to Florida's citrus industry.
