Moskito Indians of Honduras receive long-anticipated

clinical help from WER donors

WER sponsored a medical team on a two-week mission trip into the depths of the coastal jungles in Honduras to aid the Moskito Indians. WER board member, Gary Becks, led the team of dentists, doctors, nurses, and other volunteers from Rescue Task Force and the local village. They spent days fixing and pulling teeth, supplying de-worming medicines, and attending to countless other patients suffering from diseases and injuries.

One of the team members stated that the work was often emotionally and physically exhausting, but the knowledge that they were giving people a chance to live free of pain and suffering made her days fly by. By then end of their trip, more than 400 men, women, and children who were in need of medical care had been helped, as well as over 200 dental patients.

Thanks to WER donors many Honduran lives have been helped this past year with millions of dollars of aid in the form of medical assistance and shipments of medical equipment, supplies, and medicines. Antibiotics, anesthetics, anti-inflammatories anti-seziure medicines are drastically needed to help the people of Honduras. Any of the medicine not used on the trip is still in Honduras and will be distributed appropriately according to need.

With the help of many volunteers WER has aided in the construction of medical clinics on or near the Cruda river of Honduras to provide continuing medical care for the locals. One of the clinics currently has a full-time local doctor.

During the Florida hurricanes, the leader of the Tolupane Indians in Honduras walked for three days to deliver $1000 lempira ($55) to Gary Becks. They raised the money by selling chickens and beans to help Americans in need. The Tolupane is one of the tribes helped by WER medical relief efforts in Honduras.
